Meditation System : The meditation system taught here is the vijja Dhammakaya approach as initated by Luang Phor Wat Paknam. A book called WThe heart of Dhammakaya Meditation", lectured by the abbot of this monastery, will cover the first level of meditation in detail. you will find the book at leading book stores in Bangkok, and at the Information Office of this monastery. Most chapters from the book are also published in the meditation section of this homepage. However, all three levesl - beginner, intermediate, and advanced - are taught at the temple.

Teaching Method : The abbot, Chao Khun Phra Bhavana Visutthikhun (Phra Ajahn Maha Sermchai jayamanggalo)(Thai), is the chief meditation intructor. He speaks fluent English and gives meditation periods. If the abbot is absent, a tape recording of his teaching will be played. About three to five other monks can also teach meditation in English, and over 50 monks can teach in Thai.

Description : The contra area, 91 acers (227 rais), has beautifully landscaped park lands with a lake, river, trees and grass. The temple buildings have a distinguished white colour.

Daily Routine: 05.00-06.00 a.m. Morning chanting and meditation
07.00 a.m. Breakfast
09.00 - 11.00 a.m. Dhamma Theory Studies

Monks and novices eat from their alms-bowls.Lay people and nuns eat in the kitchen after the monks and novices. A drink is available in the morning. Lay people will still get 2 meals a day.

Accommodations : Men and women live in separate areas. Foreign men stay at the new school building, while the women's quarters are at a wooden Thai-style building near the kitchen area. At the end of 1998 the new dining hall will be completed, and there will be and area for sleeping at the first floor of that building.

Write in Advance? : If you want to come and pay us a visit, it is really not necessary to write in advance. It is, however, recommended, so as to make sure that the abbot is in residence, as he is the main English speaking teacher. For fax number and E-mail address, see Information
